Kidzania Visit

Exploring a World of Imagination: Our Halfterm Adventure

The halfterm break is a time for families to come together and create unforgettable memories. This year, our charity decided to embark on an exciting adventure to KidZania, located right in the heart of Westfield London. KidZania is a unique indoor city where children can step into the roles of adults and experience a day in the life of various professions. What follows is an account of our fantastic visit to this imaginative and educational wonderland during halfterm.

Setting the Stage

As we walked into KidZania, we were immediately struck by its impressive design—an entire city scaled down to kid-friendly proportions. Streets, buildings, and even a working airport were spread out before us, inviting exploration and adventure. KidZania is designed for children aged 4 to 14, making it the perfect destination for our family with children of different ages.

The Adventure Begins

Once inside, our kids were handed a map and 50 KidZos (the city's currency), and they were ready to explore the various activities and job opportunities that awaited them. The sense of independence and responsibility on their faces was priceless as they decided where to go first.

Exploring Professions

KidZania offers over 60 real-life role-playing experiences, allowing children to try out different careers. One of the younger children started her journey as a firefighter, donning a tiny uniform and learning how to use a fire hose. Another older child chose to become a doctor for the day, attending to patients in a mini-hospital. It was incredible to see how engaged and enthusiastic they were about their roles.

Learning Through Play

What makes KidZania truly special is the blend of entertainment and education. As the children tackled different jobs, they learned about teamwork, problem-solving, and the responsibilities that come with various professions. The staff, known as "Zupervisors," were patient and encouraging, ensuring that every activity was not just fun but also a valuable learning experience.

Realistic Experiences

One of the highlights of our visit was the aviation experience. A couple of the children became pilots, learning about the ins and outs of operating an aircraft. They boarded a life-sized plane, complete with a cockpit and cabin, and "flew" to a fictional destination. The attention to detail was remarkable, and our kids were left in awe.

Food and Refreshment

Exploring a mini-city can work up quite an appetite. We enjoyed a delicious meal at one of the kid-sized restaurants, where the kids had the opportunity to play the role of chefs, preparing their own meals under the guidance of KidZania's kitchen staff.

A Day Filled with Laughter

As the day at KidZania progressed, our children's smiles never faded. They took on various roles, from radio DJs to fashion designers, all while building new friendships and memories. We even had a chance to participate in an all inclusive activity, where we worked together to solve a mystery.

Another Fulfilling Trip

Visiting KidZania during halfterm was an incredible adventure for the academy. It allowed the children to explore their interests, learn about various careers, and gain valuable life skills — all the while having a blast. It's a place where imagination thrives, and education is seamlessly woven into play. At Jacob's Academy, we work hard to provide lasting memories for the children so that learning is both fun and inspiring.
